Aston Villa welcome Everton to the midlands on the back of two domestic victories after the Toffees struggled against FC Metalist Kharkiv in the week.
David Moyes is sweating on the fitness of influential midfielder Mikel Arteta as he struggles to overcome a foot injury. Despite Andrew Johnson’s double penalty miss on Thursday against the Ukrainian opposition, he’s still likely to partner Yakubu up front as Everton still search for more goals from their multi-million pound strikeforce.
Lee Carsley is likely to return to midfield, while Thomas Gravesen is doubtful and Tim Howard will still be missing, which means that Wessels will keep his place in goal.
Martin O’Neil will probably name an unchanged side for the third consecutive league game, despite John Carew’s continuing misfiring in front of goal.
Marlon Harewood is still out injured, while Thomas Sorensen’s place in goal will be filled by Scott Carson. Martin Laursen and Zat Knight are likely to keep their partnership in the team and Curtis Davies is available to make his debut.
