A series of programmes have recently been commissioned by the major national networks which feature the stars of the football world taking part in the country's favourite daytime TV shows.
For the networks, this brings added celebrity and ratings, and for the football folk involved, it means their WAG's can watch hubby on TV without having to tune into Sky Sports.
Soon to be shown is an episode of Bargain Hunt, where David Dickinson and Big Sam Allardyce will be off to Europe to browse the markets looking for players to bring back to the Reebok. The only qualifying factor for any purchase is the requirement to be cheap as chips, of African descent and to qualify for an EEC passport through a distant relative.
Nigel Reo-Coker, or 'Baby Bentley' as he has been known, will join the presenters of Car Booty to sell his bric-a-brac from the back of his gleaming motor. Meanwhile, Alan Curbishley will try his hand on Flog It! to try and get a valuation for the classic 60's Art Deco Teddy Sheringham he has knocking about in his loft.
On a quiz theme, Darren Fletcher and Wes Brown will take time out from their Champions League appearances to appear on The Weakest Link. And not forgetting the ever popular property shows, managers around Europe will be attempting to persuade Thierry Henry to appear on A Place In The Sun.
Finally, recorded ahead of time in case of an Estonia win in the forthcoming England international, Steve McClaren will appear in a special version of Escape to the Country, entitled 'Escape the Country', where he tries desperately to flee the angry mobs for the relative peace of a two up - two down in the Baghdad suburbs.
